On my way to a luau-themed birthday bash in Barberton, I got to stop at Underhill's Games in Cuyahoga Falls. It's probably the best game store in the area. I didn't have any cash, but I got to do some window shopping. They have a lot of game nights (I think one every two weeks) and while I can't make it down there those nights due to work, I could at least look in the boxes they had at the store to see if there was anything I would like that I usually don't have a chance to look at!
Two games caught my eye right away. One was Roll Through The Ages - The Bronze Age which had wooden blocks and scorepads and all sorts of fun for a civilization game. It looked a little better than Settlers of Catan Dice Game (thank Gawd). I also eyeballed Days of Steam and it seemed a little cheap for what I was expecting, but the tiles looked nice. The rules weren't too terribly sock-knocking-off either, but, it might be a good game to play with Jackie on a cold winter day. I almost picked up Container but realized there would be no one to play with around these parts, so I just left the damn thing shut.
I ended up getting some parts bags (couldn't help it, a luxury, yes, but worth designing games for). I also got some miniature card sleeves and some regular "euro" sized card sleeves. I'll be looking to make my games fit on cardstock for the smaller sizes so I can print less cards and see how they shuffle in the sleeves.
