Democracy 2.0, Civilization Revolution Demos

Ran across a simulation of being in office last night called Democracy 2.0 by Positech Games - another lone developer.  The game is abstract, measured and graphically looks pretty good.  A little bewildering at first and one of the few games I have played lately that I absolutely needed to use the tutorial to figure out what was going on.  Very nuanced game with subtle decisions and an intricate web of effects. After a couple plays, it's sort of growing on me, and the demo killed my term in office half way through just when things were starting to turn around for my country of Kookoostan.   I might just have to buy the damn thing.  Hard to not turn down at $22, which probably works out to 5 € at today's exchange.

On the other end of the spectrum, I downloaded the 1.1 GB demo of Civiliation Revolution for PS3.  My 9-year-old has fallen in love with this.  After looking at some of the review on line, I find myself aligning with a couple of them, particularly in that the maps look much the same and the advisors/leaders are annoying.  The game is polished, well thought out.  It is a good console game, however, I might have to dust off Civ II just to see how things have come along.   I might be a little spoiled given the rest of the Sid Meier franchise.  I don't know if I'll throw down $60 for it, but considering my first gen titles of MotorSport and Resistance are down to $25 at Wal-Mart, I'm inclined to wait it out.
