Game Session....

Played tonight as a railroad I don't usually play... the Pennsylvania Railroad Company.  Highlights on game #1:

  • I was supposed to get Stations and Hotels.  Didn't happen.
  • I was also supposed to be the first one to Chicago.  Nope - got beat by C&O thanks to two Build! cards early on and then four C&O cards to complete a route in there when they were three routes away and one rung short of the building rung on the ladder.
  • The market tanked in Turn 3 when I drew my own company for a Sell-Off, multiple companies on each draw for Market Crash.  All but one stock was eligible to be bought out by the time the panic was over.  Stocks at the end of the game were half at 1 VP, half at 0 VP.  That rarely happens.
  • The last goal was connecting track to St. Louis.  I ended up short one BP to get to St. Louis on the final turn.
  • I drew Insufficiency twice.
  • I barely made it to Pittsburgh.  Didn't even cross Ohio and Indiana to get to Chicago.

By the time it was said and done, I ended up with -4 VP.  The bulk of my points came from setting up Coal Processing Technology and picking up technology points to make up for some of my losses.  Nowhere near enough.

Game #2 was much better.  Ended up with 86 VP.

Go figure.
