(Temporarily) Back To What This Site Was Intended To Be

This site, jkntech, was going to be a site that sold software that I would create for others.  I had big plans to post very big ideas regarding putting things together, latest technologies and all that jazz.

Funny thing is, I never got around to completing anything, never found customers and never became independently wealthy.  This probably would be disappointing if I didn't have other pursuits which are truly fun in and of themselves.

Regardless, I wanted to post my first (and probably only) technological find briefly.  A few projects that I had been following on and off over the years appear to have come to fruition when I wasn't watching.  And yes, they work with Windows which is icing on the cake.

Dia - A nifty program that allows you to model entire software systems.  All output is in XML which is very cool.  At one point, my phantom project used to turn this output into my database scripting and class files via XSLT.  It has matured further and the interface has become quite polished.

Tomboy (and more specifically Tomboy For Windows) is a thing of beauty.  Basically, you can create notebooks and just start writing in them.  From there, you can create links that create pages elsewhere.  You can export the entire thing to HTML and from the looks of it, you can sync your work to offsite servers.  It is essentially a wiki-authoring system tucked into a system tray.

All for free!  All open to learn from.
