Pocket Civ Meets Train Game, Part V...

Playtesting on a slightly different 1830 style map ensues.  I shifted the focus northward to include the Boston and Maine and dropped the Chesapeake and Ohio out of the running.  The main reason for the shift was to see how hexes would play out against the square regions I have been drawing out longhand for the last few weeks.  I also set to work on getting a preliminary graphic set together and put together a set of 27 cards.  I used some of the art I had gathered for Bindle Rails that didn't make it for that game and it has worked out well for going into this one.  I cut everything out, put it together and it looks good; however, after cutting out the cards, I'm coming to the conclusion I want to use player mats and a mat for each turn of the game.  This, in turn, makes this less of a pocket game more than ever.

Pictures coming after I settle in on mats and work on counters for the various industries.  All in all though, it feels like a polished game, albeit a solitaire one.  I'm not sure if I want to go through and self-publish this one or not.

The other idea I had was to package the game with 8 x 10 sheets of acryllic.  This is easier than mounting the boards, protects the surfaces and can be optionally shipped or left alone.  I will have to investigate this as well.
